Choose Your Deposit Type
You have the option to make two different kinds of deposit. A "Cash" deposit, or a "Credit Authorization". Cash deposits get a bidding limit 5 times the amount deposited and we keep the funds on hand to secure your bidding limit. Credit Authorizations get a limit equal to the amount authorized, but no actual cash is kept on hand. In simplistic term's its a generic credit check just using your credit card.

Cash Deposit Specifics: Cash deposit are kept on-hand at SMJ and are used to secure your bidding limit. They are not used to pay for any auctions unless you specificly request it. Any reduction in a Cash Deposit will reduce your bidding limit accordingly.

Credit Authorization Specifics: When using your credit card to secure a bidding limit, we do a credit authorization on it for whatever amount you ask. If the card passes the authorization, your limit will be set at that amount. We do not charge your card or take any funds from it. Many banks will put a hold on some of your credit or even your own funds if using a debit card for a limited time. On average, the funds are held 7 to 10 days by your card issuing bank, so please be aware of that possibility when asking for a credit authorization. We do not accept pre-paid debit / gift cards.

Calculating Your Bidding Limit
As mentioned above, your bidding limit will depend on your deposit type. 5x for cash deposits listed above, 1x for credit authorizations.

*Deposit examples: We use a static 110 yen to $1.00 for calculating bidding limits reguardless of the current exchange rate.

Making a Deposit (All deposits and payments must be in US$)

Cash Deposits via Check or Money Order: Only users "grandfathered" into the new system can pay via check and money orders. New registers must use another option as these now outdated forms of payments will no longer be accepted.

Cash Deposits via Paypal: The funds must be sent to " payments-at-shoppingmalljapan.com " (replace the "-at-" with the "@" symbol). Be sure to include your username in the subject and/or comments field when filling out the form at Paypal.com. Funds recieved without an accompaning username may be rejected. eChecks are subject to clearing before the account can be opened.

Credit Authorizations: Very simple; email us with your username and the amount to authorize. You must email us from the same address you have registered with SMJ. You also must have a credit card on file to do so.

Full instructions will accompany the "Deposit Request" email during the registration process. Please note we cannot mix deposit types. It must be either a cash deposit or credit authorization, not a mix of both.

Increasing your deposit
Should you ever need a higher spending limit all you have to do is increase your deposit accordingly.

Cash deposits: Simply send more funds along with your username, via the same method you used previously, and a note mentioning the deposit increase.
Credit Authorizations: Let us know the max amount you want us to authorize as this will override your current authorization. For example, you have a credit authorization of $100.00, but want to raise that to $200.00. We will need to run a new authorization for the full $200.00 and overwrite the current one.

All deposits and normal invoice payments may take up to 24 hours to process. Be sure to act quick if you anticipate needing the spending limit soon.

Refunding Your Deposit or Closing Your Account
To close your account and / or refund any remaining cash deposit your account must be free of any outstanding invoices and bids.
Cash deposits: For security you must email us from your registered address with your username and any one paypal transaction ID number of any payment or deposit made to us. Cash deposits can only be refunded via Paypal.
Credit Authorizations: Since no funds are actualy taken, no refund is necessary.
