Main Database Search
Our main search is on the homepage at the top, and can be extremely useful. Below are some tips and examples on how to use it. There're two ways to search items on Yahoo Japan.
1) Cagtegory Searching: Go to the proper category, and search words directly.
2) Word Searching: Search words and products from root category.
For example, if you want to search "Sonsaku Hakufu Figure", The first way is to:
1) Go to the category

2) Pick anime database and search 'Sonsaku Hakufu'.
The second way is:
1) Go to the top page
http://www.shoppingmalljapan.com/
2) Pick anime database and search 'Sonsaku Hakufu'.
3) Pick toy or anime database and search 'Figures'
The result may be different. Those two ways have pros and cons.
Category Searching:
Pros: Items without the word 'Figure' can be searched.
Cons: Items that are put on other categories cannot be searched.
Word Searching:
Pros: Items on any categories (execpt adult) can be searched.
Cons: Items without the word 'Figure' cannot be searched.
Items which are not interested in are also listed.
Category searching is the best way to search. But when you want to check all the categories, try word searching. If Yahoo Japan doesn't have the proper category which you're interested in, you have to use the word search.
Example of category searching.
ex1) Find REC Figure
1) go to the category

2) pick 'anime & manga' database and search 'REC'
ex2) Find Mitsubishi Delica model cars
1) go to the category

Example of word searching.
ex4) Find 'Louise Dakimakura'
1) Go to the top page.
2) Pick 'Anime and Manga' and search 'Dakimakura'.
3) Choose 'Dakimakura', pick 'Anime' and search 'Louise'
Tips:
*)The database to pick might not be the category for the items for the examples above. So try other ones as well.
*)The words to search should be short and simple.
*)If you can't finid category, search from the top page. Pick one item and find the category by looking the top of the item list.
Hentai items cannot be searched in ordinary way.
Go to hentai category at first and search.
ex5) Find 'Nise MIDI doronokai hentai doujinshi'
1) go to the category

2) pick 'doujinshi circles' and search 'MIDI'
Quick Search
The Quick Search is in the menu to the left. Enter a simple term in English or "Romaji", pick a catagory you may be able to find the item, and choose the search method. That being from YHJ auctions, or from several web shop listings. If you don't get any results, then it may not be in our database. You can make a request on the forums and we'll try to assist and add that search in!
Self Search
Finding items may be easier than you think. You can use a search engine to try and find the Japanese characters, or "kanji", of the item you're searching for. Then its as easy as visiting the Yahoo! Japan Auctions homepage and using their search, or using Google.co.jp and Yahoo.co.jp to dig up some more info. Simply copy / paste the characters into the search field and press enter.
Translated Search
You can use any of the translators we link to via the "Translation Help" help page to start surfing the auction sites or any URL you input in English and several other languages. On our homepage we have made several popular and common links, already created through a translator, to help you get started.
